All students will be required to attend an annual three-day workshop. In these workshops, participants will learn to listen to another person tell his/her story in relation to the astrological cycles that weave through it, gain valuable practice discerning the various planetary voices that are speaking, gradually become adept at identifying the thematic threads that emerge through being able to hear the story with the chart in front of them, learn to discern the evolution of consciousness that moves through successive phases of a story's genesis, and explore strategies for addressing core issues with greater awareness at various phases of the cycle. All of these skills are necessary components of the astropoetic approach to astrology, whether or not the intention of the student is to practice astrology on behalf of others.
Emphasis on Using Astrology For Personal Growth
The emphasis in these workshops will be working directly with the core issues of participants, from an astropoetic perspective. The specific focus of each workshop will evolve out of patterns emphasized in the birthchart for the time of the workshop, as well as the basic principles being studied and the relevant life processes of those participating. Each workshop will purposely be kept small to allow for more intimate sharing. The support generated among students attending these workshops – both for the learning process and for addressing core issues – is an invaluable part of The Course and the teaching offered by The School.
Past workshops have included Healing the Astrological Shadow, Reclaiming the Radiant Child, Embracing the Holy Other in Relationship, and Exploring the Sensory Dimension of the Astrological Signs. These are now offered as supplemental Workshops available to students of The Course and others not currently enrolled in The School, when demand and sufficient interest warrant. All students currently enrolled in The Course will receive a 1/3 discount for any supplemental workshops they might wish to attend.
Annual Workshop Held at Phoenix Ranch
The annual workshop will be held at Phoenix Ranch - a 320-acre retreat center in the heart of the Missouri Ozarks, from Thursday evening to Sunday noon, on a weekend in mid October. A modest accommodations fee will be charged to each student attending the annual workshop to cover meals and dormitory-style lodging. Alternative (and more expensive) lodging is also available in nearby motels for those wishing more privacy.
